Eddie Rabbitt is doing Drivin’ My Life Away
Phew! Where the heck have I been? I left my new home on Horsetooth Reservoir, Colorado, USA with the sunrise on October 14 and headed for Oakland, California. After about 700 miles I called it quits in Elko, Nevada for the evening. I-80 took me across southern Wyoming and on into Salt Lake City. The entire ride is chock full of magnificence. Stopping for each and every morsel could take a lifetime. But I had work to do in California.
The Great Salt Lake is lower than at any time in recorded history. The 100-mile ride from there to the Bonneville Salt Flats was essentially this photo looking back east toward Salt Lake City. On westward across the extremely arid and desolate basin and range topography was both stark and spectacular.
The next day I cleared Reno, Nevada, climbed the Sierras, dropped down into the delta country that is Sacramento, California and made it to my most excellent condo Airbnb on the tiny spit of land known as Emeryville, California on San Francisco Bay. I had a week’s worth of work with some wonderful folks who are employed by Caltrans.
